The 24-year-old said: “It doesn’t affect me much. We have talked about it many times, in many showcases.

Newcastle vs West Ham: What was said?

Newcastle boss Howe has admitted he does not want to see Sandro Tonali hit with another ban after the player was charged with a further 50 betting offenses.

Tonali is currently banned from football for ten months after betting on matches in Italy, and it appears he was doing it in England as well.

But his manager fully supports him.

He said: “He suffered during this time and he asked for help.

“The news that there had been an accusation from the FA, that the illness had not stopped when he left Italy for England.

“This disease was there and people should look at it that way, not ‘throw the book at him and punish him even more’ because I don’t think that gets to the root of the problem.”
