New York man dies after diving from Imperial House to Lenox Hill in apparent suicide
A 26-year-old man died Friday after plunging from a luxury Manhattan co-op in an apparent suicide, police said.
The young man was found in the backyard of the Imperial House on East 69th Street near Lexington Avenue in Lenox Hill around 7:40 p.m.
He suffered “injuries indicative of a fall from an elevated position,” according to the New York Police Department.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said no foul play was suspected.
It was not immediately clear from which floor of the 30-story building the man plunged.
La Maison Impériale is described as “one of the finest and most sought-after white glove cooperatives, combining elegance and service” by real estate agents.
A two-bed, two-bath co-op sells for $1,900,000, while an additional bed and bath pushes the price up to $3,495,000, according to listings.
The late actress Joan Crawford called the Imperial House, then an apartment building, her home from 1968 until her death in 1977.
