Joseph Seiders, the drummer of the independent rock group The New Pornographers, was accused of possession of juvenile pornography after being arrested for having allegedly filmed boys without distrust in a Palm Desert Chick-Fil-A.
Seiders, 44, is accused of possession of criminal juvenile pornography, an annoying crime under 18, hiding a camera with the intention of invading intimacy and trying to hide a camera. He pleaded not guilty of the accusations on April 11, two days after being arrested by deputies of the Sheriff of the County of Riverside.
The day after the arrest, the Canadian group announced that Seiders was no longer part of the group.
Seiders was placed in police custody by deputies on April 9 shortly after 5 p.m. after a second incident during which he would have entered chick-Fil-A toilets when the minors were inside.
The staff of the restaurant of Dinah Shore Drive in Palm Desert recognized him by an incident two days earlier and alerted the deputies. According to sheriff managers, on April 7, an 11 -year -old boy reported that “an unknown adult recorded him on a mobile phone while using the toilet on site”. According to the deputies, the staff later identified this man as seiders.
Riverside County Sheriff Investigators said that they were serving “search mandates for the residence, the vehicle and the mobile phone of Seiders. Evidence has been located in the two reported incidents, as well as additional crimes, including possession of juvenile pornography. ”
Seiders was sentenced to the detention center of John J. Benoit in Indio, suspected of possession of juvenile pornography, embarrassing / assault of a child, invasion of privacy and attempted invasion of privacy. Investigators said the investigation remains underway and “there may be additional victims.”
The sheriff’s sheriff’s reservation files show that he remains in deposit of a million dollars. In a judicial file, prosecutors describe the victim as “particularly vulnerable” and “crime indicates the planning of sophistication and professionalism”.
“Everyone in the group is absolutely shocked, horrified and devastated by the news of Joe Seiders accusations – we immediately broken all links with him,” said the group’s statement. “Our hearts go to all those who have been affected by its actions.”
