At the end of March, while increasing his preparation for the 2025 season, Derek felt pain on the right shoulder. After consultation with his wife, Heather, Derek decided that it was in the best interest of his family and the organization of saints to withdraw from the National Football League.
“By reflecting prayer, and in discussion with Heather, I decided to retire from the National Football League,” said Carr. “For more than 11 years, we have been incredibly blessed, and we are eternally grateful and humiliated by this experience.
