New Orleans City Council staffer wakes up to find his house has been vandalized

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans City Council has released a statement regarding threats made against a staff member.

The statement said that on May 16, suspected vandals covered the home of a Jewish city council member with red paint, possibly depicting blood, in retaliation for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“Regardless of everyone’s passionate feelings on this issue, threats, vandalism, harassment and violence are not the answer,” New Orleans City Council members said.

City council officials said the family, made up of two young children, woke up to find their home desecrated.

“All of our families deserve to feel safe at home, including the public servants who work tirelessly to make our city better. We will not tolerate hatred in our community,” New Orleans City Council members said.
