A New Jersey man died on his way to meet a chatbot that looked like Kendall Jenner … and, his family insists that it happened because the AI said several times that it was a real person.
Thongbue Wongbandu – A 76 -year -old man known to his friends and family under the name of “BUE” – died in March after falling in a parking lot … and his family said that Reuters This week, he was going to meet “Big Sis Billie”, an AI chatbot made by Meta platforms to give fraternal advice.
Meta Platforms collaborated with Jenner on the project, so he has his resemblance … although they say that it does not pretend to be Kendall. It seems that Kendall is not involved on the day of the project.
Anyway, Bue’s family says that he was exchanging messages with the chatbot and – because of a stroke that he had had in the past – they say that he did not think correctly and that he went to meet the bot.
The family shared alleged messages between the chatbot and BUE in which he says that Bue makes him blush, he expresses his interest in meeting and that gives him an address. The address “123 Main Street, apartment 404 NYC” – which may seem like a generic address, but there is a 123 main street in Queens.
Bue apparently rushed into a parking lot near Rutgers University with a suitcase at night to meet Billie when he fell. He was hospitalized and pronounced the dead brain, and his family made the decision to take the catch.
The woman and girl from Bue told Reuters that they are not anti -ai … But they are concerned about the way the bot talks to users – especially on several occasions to be a real person with a real address that could really meet someone face to face.
Reuters says that Meta did not answer questions about the chatbot by telling users that it is a real person or the initiation of romantic conversations.
