New HBO Max streaming service temporarily unavailable on launch day

The streaming service replaces its predecessor HBO Max.
Max, a new streaming service from HBO, was temporarily unavailable Tuesday, the morning of its debut.
Users have reported an inability to access the streaming service, which carries over content from its HBO Max predecessor while offering new features. Later Tuesday morning, the service appeared to be fixed.
Streaming on Max was initially not working for ABC News and reports of the outage began early Tuesday morning, according to outage tracking site Downdetector.
A spokesperson for Max told ABC News that the company has resolved the initial issues users were having.
“You should always anticipate the problems of a technology deployment of this magnitude,” the spokesperson said. “We can say that only minor issues emerged and were quickly corrected.”
The spokesperson followed up about 15 minutes later saying Max was not down.
Compared to HBO Max, the new service offers eight times as many movies and episodes in a high-resolution presentation known as 4K UHD, the company said in a statement Monday.
