New Galaxy Z Fold 6 leak reveals Samsung’s bold design choice

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 will launch into a market with more foldable phones than ever before. But we now know that Samsung is preparing to update the look of its foldable flagship to challenge the competition.

Long-time smartphone watcher Ice Universe has details on the new Galaxy Z Fold 6 design. They outlined Samsung’s new choices for the rear camera housing. The individual lenses now feature raised black metal frames with circular detailing.

Samsung’s choice to redesign the rear camera assembly is now curious. With the number of foldable devices from several manufacturers increasing, the foldable form factor is moving away from its previous niche and into the mainstream market. Technological prowess is no longer enough; design and fashion come into play.

Samsung has kept the Galaxy Z Fold design for the past three years. It’s clear it’s time to revitalize it with a new look.

Whether this includes changes to the camera hardware remains to be seen. There are conflicting reports about Samsung upgrading the hardware to be closer to that used on 2024’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, while others suggest the hardware will remain consistent with this year’s Galaxy S24 and S24+ and the Last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Samsung is expected to hold a Galaxy Unpacked launch event in early July in Paris, ahead of the Summer Olympics.
