New estimates say PS5 beats Xbox by more than 5-to-1 in sales for November

Microsoft is downplaying the need to own an Xbox after several years focused on Game Pass and the new “Everything’s an Xbox” campaign, and so the market continues to move down that path.

New sales estimates from VGChartz (which aren’t official numbers at all, but they can generally indicate trend lines) indicate that as of November 2024, console sales were:

• PS5 – 4.1M
• Switch – 1.7M
• Xbox Series – 767K

The PS5 has been bolstered by the PS5 Pro, which is an 18% increase over last year, while Xbox X/S sales are down 25%. Switch is almost the same, just a slight drop-off. This ratio means that the PS5 sold 5.4 times more consoles than the Xbox that month. This year, the estimate puts the number of PS5s at 15.31 million compared to 4.01 million for Xbox, a ratio slightly lower than 4:1.
