New Delhi records highest temperature of season, parts could reach 49 degrees in days

The national capital New Delhi is reeling from an intense heatwave with Safdarjung recording the highest temperature of the season at 43.6 degrees Celsius, according to Skymet on Friday (May 17).

Other parts of the city faced even more severe conditions, with Mungeshpur reaching 46.5 degrees, Najafgarh 47.4 degrees, Ayanagar 46.2 degrees and Palam 45.1 degrees.

Skymet Weather’s vice president of meteorology and climate change, Jatin Singh, confirmed in a tweet that no relief is expected for the coming week, leaving residents to brace for continued extreme heat.
