The California Highway Patrol deploys new patrol vehicles in the hope of repressing what the agency called “video style”.
The vehicles, 100 Dodge Durangos, will be twinned with a fleet of Dodge Chargers and Ford Explorers to “observe the most reckless and dangerous behavior without immediate detection”, according to a press release from the CHP.
“New vehicles offer our officers an important advantage,” said CHP commissioner Sean Duryee in a press release. “They will allow us to identify and stop the drivers who put others in danger, while showing a professional and visible presence once application measures are necessary.”
New vehicles are available in a variety of colors and have a version of traditional CHP vehicle brands in strong contrast at their doors.

Vehicles will be placed in various state regions from this week. The 100 patrol units will be posted along the busiest roads and highways in California by June.
More than 390,000 vehicle accidents occur in California each year, and there are 1,000 daily reckless driving reports, the agency said. CHP officers published nearly 18,000 quotes last year to people who accelerated more than 100 mi / h.
Speed is a factor of around 30% of accidents, according to the CHP.
“Our goal remains the same: to reduce injury, prevent deaths and restore a feeling of safety on California roads,” said the press release. “We urge all drivers to obey speed limits, avoid aggressive behavior and share the road in a responsible manner.”
