‘New BJP conspiracy’, AAP refutes allegations of illegal receipt of foreign funds

The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday refuted allegations of receipt of foreign funds and termed them as “new BJP conspiracy” to malign the Kejriwal government amid the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a joint press conference, AAP leaders Atishi and Sandeep Pathak claimed that the BJP was trying to raise an old issue to target the party and asserted that more such allegations would arise in the approach of elections in Delhi.

The Enforcement Directorate has written to the Union Home Ministry, alleging that the Aam Aadmi Party, which rules Delhi and Punjab, received over ₹7 crore in foreign funds in violation of the FCRA , official sources said on Monday.

The federal investigation agency sent the communication after recovering some documents and emails during a drug-related money laundering probe against former Punjab AAP MP Sukhpal Singh Khaira and some others.

Refuting the allegations, Atishi said: “These are baseless allegations. This is an old case in which it is already proven that no illegal donations were made. As the elections continue, the BJP has hatched a new conspiracy to frame AAP.”

“They failed to charge us with liquor scam and Swati Maliwal case. That’s why they opened this case now,” she claimed.
