The Netflix Ted Sarandos CO-PDG says that video podcasts could be the next format to appear on the streaming service while the creators pursues in many areas.
When calling the results of the company’s first quarter on Thursday, Sarandos said that “the lines become blurred” between the podcasts and the talk shows, in response to a question to find out if the video pods could work on Netflix.
“As the popularity of video podcasts increases, I suspect that some of them find their way to Netflix,” said Sarandos.
His comments have confirmed previous reports of business insider that Netflix explored potential agreements with video podcasters when he turned to his next growth phase.
Netflix leaders have become increasingly aggressive about the implementation of shows led by YouTube on the platform and to talk about its advantages to creators.
This occurs when YouTube leads the media pack in terms of television time. According to Nielsen, Youtube represented 12% of the television observation time in March, extending its advance on Netflix, at 7.9%.
The best leaders of Netflix recently argued that Netflix is better than YouTube to help creators grow and earn money. In addition to other media giants such as Amazon and Disney, Netflix has also relied on popular Youtubers, the care of the sidemen, the preschool educator Ms. Rachel and the live dating show the Balloon.
“We are looking for the next generation of great creators, and we are looking everywhere, not only in film schools and certainly not only in Hollywood,” said Sarandos on appeal. “Creators today have unimaginable tools a decade ago to tell stories to reach the public.”
Some creators are impatient with prestige, initial money and the ability to reach new viewers than Netflix and other Hollywood players can afford.
But for others, in particular well -established creators, the advantage is less clear when they have built multiplatical companies independently and benefit from the control of their productions as well as direct relations with their audience.
