As Los Angeles continues to battle wildfires that have destroyed parts of the city and killed at least 24 people, businesses are pledging millions in donations to help relief efforts.
Monday, Netflix And Comcast each announced donations of $10 million, split among groups including the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, World Central Kitchen and the American Red Cross. Both companies also said they were helping employees directly affected by the fires.
“The next few years will be a time of rebuilding for many of us and this will require creativity, vision, courage and perseverance. Looking at some of the hardest hit neighborhoods, it’s hard to imagine rebuilding – but we will, and we will. come back stronger than before,” wrote Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos.
Comcast is the parent company of NBCUniversal, which has a strong presence in Los Angeles with its studios.
“We express our deep gratitude to the first responders for their tireless and courageous efforts,” Brian Roberts, Comcast chairman and CEO, said in the release.

Other media and entertainment companies, many of which have a large presence in the Los Angeles area, had already pledged to help with relief efforts. THE Walt Disney Company announced Saturday that it would spend $15 million on firefighting and reconstruction. Fox News reported that its parent company, Fox Companydonated $1 million to the American Red Cross.
FanDuel gaming platform and its parent company, Flutter Entertainmentdonated $250,000 to disaster relief organization Americares and the LA Fire Department Foundation, they announced.
The NFL — which moved a playoff game from SoFi Stadium in a Los Angeles suburb to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., because of the fires — said its teams and ownership groups are collectively providing $5 million to relief efforts. Twelve Los Angeles sports teams, including the Lakers and Dodgers, separately announced a donation of more than $8 million to fire relief groups.
Grocers Kroger And Walmart pledged $1 million and $2.5 million respectively for relief efforts. Health insurer Anthem Blue Cross announced a $10 million donation.
Reuters reported on Monday that JPMorgan Chase And Bank of America also offer some payment relief to mortgage customers affected by the wildfires.

Hollywood stars and entertainment figures also said they were financially supporting fire relief efforts.
Actor Jamie Lee Curtis, a Los Angeles resident, announced on Instagram that his family had pledged $1 million toward relief funds, while singer Beyoncé’s BeyGood Foundation pledged $2.5 million toward her own fire emergency fund. Socialite Paris Hilton announced she would launch an emergency fund to help displaced families and committed $200,000 to it, while actress Halle Berry said she had donated clothes to fire victims.
