Neeraj Chopra clarified that he was not injured but decided to withdraw from the Ostrava Golden Spike 2024 athletics competition as a precautionary measure after “feeling something” in his adductor. Neeraj Chopra, however, soon after posted a clarification on Instagram that he was not injured but had decided to pull out because he had also had an issue with the adductor muscle earlier.

“Hello everyone! Following a recent throwing session, I decided not to compete in Ostrava because I felt something in my adductor,” Neeraj clarified through an Instagram story. “I had some problems with this in the past and pushing it to this point can lead to injury.

“Just to clarify, I’m not injured but I don’t want to take any risks during the Olympic year, so I had to make this decision.

“Once I feel fully recovered, I will return to competitions. Thank you for your support.”

Neeraj, however, will attend the Ostrava Golden Spike 2024 athletics competition as a guest. He had missed the same event last year due to a muscle injury.

The 26-year-old is expected to be in action at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland on June 18.

Neeraj opened his 2024 year with the Doha Diamond League on May 10, where he finished second with a throw of 88.36m. On May 15, he participated in the Federation Cup in India which was held in Bhubaneswar.

He won the gold medal at home in difficult weather conditions with a throw of 82.27m.
