Preview of tires and strategy
“This weekend, a new FIA technical directive comes into play, concerning the flexibility of the wings, which some experts consider could have an effect on the performance of the car”, reads the preview of the Pirelli weekend. “In addition, Barcelona has traditionally been the track where the teams provide important updates, especially to test them on what is a demanding circuit.
“Not only is the track difficult for cars, but it also requires high requirements on tires. After two consecutive rounds with the sweetest trio in the 2025 range, as usual Pirelli chose the hardest, namely the C1 so hard, C2 as a means and C3 as sweet.

“The three compounds have been revised since last year, in particular the C2, which makes performance differences between them more equidistant.
“The forces exerted on the tires are average at high, due to the many fast corners, such as the turn 3 and the last two, both of the rights. The corner of the car subjected to the largest stress is the front on the left, because the right turns are in the majority.”
Regarding the strategy for this weekend race, the overview has added: “For years, a strategy with two stops has been roughly a fact in Montmelo and last year’s race was no exception. All the pilots, with the exception of Alex Albon from the lane of the stands on the medium, aligned on the gate on the sweet for the first pass.
“12 drivers used the three compounds available, leaving the hard for the final passage, while the three best finisters, the winner Max Verstappen, followed by Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton, were on a second series of softs when they took the checkered flag.”
