LA VISTA, Neb. – A former employee of the Oriental Trading Co. was sentenced to prison for leaving a noose on a floor scrubber that a black colleague was to use.
The Nebraska U.S. Attorney’s Office said Bruce Quinn, 66, was sentenced on Friday to four months in prison and a year of supervised release for leaving the noose to his colleague. He pleaded guilty in September to a violation of federal civil rights.
Prosecutors said a 63-year-old black man who worked for Oriental Trading found the noose made of orange string sitting on the equipment seat in June 2020. He told investigators he was scared of the noose and considered it a death. threatens.
