Several television series are expected to resume production this week even as wildfires continue to burn in Los Angeles County.
CBS’ NCIS, NCIS: Origins, The Neighborhood And Dad’s house are all set to return to work on Monday, just like ABC Jimmy Kimmel Live! and several NBCUniversal shows, including Max’s Tips and NBC The place of happiness And LA Suits. However, other shows, including CBS After midnight and ABC Grey’s Anatomyare still pending.
The four CBS series returning to production, all produced by CBS Studios, will operate only on closed soundstages, under close supervision by the studio’s security, health and safety teams. Any cast or crew members affected by the fire or unable to report to work safely are encouraged not to report and will still receive their regular pay.
Catering crews for some CBS Studios productions in Los Angeles prepared meal boxes for first responders during the fires. Clothing from the shows is also being donated, in addition to parent company Paramount Global’s $1 million commitment to fire relief efforts.
NCIS has its production base in Valencia, while The neighborhood And Dad’s house film on stages at the Radford Studio Center in Studio City and Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
When it is put back into production, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is also setting up a donation center on its land behind the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, Kimmel and the show said in an Instagram post Monday. “We will quickly distribute essential items to those who need them. …Thank you for your support and spread the word to those in our neighborhood. The donation center will receive gifts in the form of bottled water, Gatorade, baby food, pet food, non-perishable food items, new toiletries and hygiene products, new socks and underwear, diapers and baby wipes.
After midnight will remain on hold until at least Wednesday, CBS says. Disney’s 20th Television is also keeping most of its productions on hiatus, with the exception of Kimmel’s late-night show. The studio’s ABC sitcom Change gear is scheduled for some rehearsals this week, and his upcoming Hulu comedy Mid-Century Modern is in preparation.
With Tips — a location that was destroyed in the Eaton Fire last week — The place of happiness And LA SuitsNBCU productions Booty (Apple TV+) and Ted (Peacock) are also expected to resume production this week.
