Peter King names Tommy DeVito and Isaiah Simmons among players of the week
After the Giants put together a complete game in their Week 11 win over the Commanders, several players were recognized for their individual performances.
In his weekly “Football Morning in America” column, Peter King of NBC Sports named Tommy DeVito one of the Offensive Players of the Week.
“At FedEx Field, DeVito, who grew up 11 miles from MetLife Stadium, completed 18 of 26 passes for 246 yards, with three touchdowns and no picks for a 137.7 rating. “Not many people get that opportunity “, DeVito said. “He’ll have more, starting next Sunday against Bill Belichick and the Patriots,” King wrote.
DeVito’s passer rating of 137.7 in Week 11 was the highest of any undrafted rookie in the common draft era (since 1967).
Meanwhile, he had a perfect passer rating of 158.3 on third down as he completed seven of eight passes for 113 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Between his three touchdown passes against the Commanders and his two against the Cowboys last week, DeVito became the first Giants quarterback with at least five in his first two NFL starts since 1950.
“Good Morning Football” host Peter Schrager also rewarded the rookie quarterback with his Week 11 game ball.
