The burglary looked like something “Goldilocks and three Bears”, at least that’s how Michael Duarte says.
Duarte, a sports writer from NBC 4, told his press station that he had been far from his home for a few days and had returned last Saturday to find that someone had entered his house in Echo Park.
Duarte said he could see through a glass door at the back of his house that the kitchen had been ransacked. At first, he thought that a wild animal had made its way inside and damaged things, but a broken glass panel next to the door handle indicated a break -in.
“I thought that someone had broken into my house, stole me and left,” he told the station. Duarte could not be reached immediately by phone at the information station or via her Instagram account.
When Duarte went to the front door, he said to the station that he had noticed that another glass panel had been broken and in the distance, he noticed something special.
He was not a bear, just a naked man, sleeping on his bed.
“To see a man not only sleeping in my bed, but completely naked sleeping in my bed … I was shocked,” he said. “Like Goldilocks of the three bear, and someone sleeps in my bed instead of the little bear.”
Duarte said to a friend who was waiting in a car with her pets to call the police, who arrived to arrest the man. While the man was taken to the handcuffs, he threatened to kill him as well as his friend, according to Duarte.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles police service did not immediately respond to the investigation into the arrest.
Shortly after the arrest of the intruder, Duarte began to question the damage in her house. He said that the man seemed to be at home for many hours, helping food in his refrigerator.
“He ate a box of ice cream sandwiches, he ate Dole Whip, an entire box of burgers beyond the beef he stuffed in the microwave and cooked them,” said Duarte.
The man also found the CHEWING-GUM duarte hiding place.
“I had a new bag with 60 inside, not open,” he told NBC. “He opened it, chewed them all then spit a large bundle of eraser … The size of a softball.”
On the rear patio, he said that the man had used a statue to kill a posum and found bags containing what he suspects was drugs.
The strange break -in underlines the recent jump in the burglaries of properties in the region patrolled by the rampart station of LAPD, according to the latest statistics of LAPD crime.
From March 16 to May 10, there was a leap in burglaries and cross-cuts of 23 incidents at 33, an increase of 43%. Despite the increase, property crimes remained at 114 incidents compared to last year, when 217 cases were reported.
