ROTTE – A former Dutch Prime Minister who now directs the Transatlantic Military Alliance at a critical time for world security – will meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London. Allies should accept a new expenditure objective supported by Trump by 5% of GDP – 3.5% for purely military spending and 1.5% for other articles related to defense, but for defense. This is a huge increase compared to the current objective of 2%.
Last week, NATO Defense Ministers approved New so -called capacity objectives – which means new requirements for military equipment in order to implement the regional defense plans of the Alliance against a potential Russian attack.
Although the details are classified, the priorities include air defense and anti -missile, major land forces training, long -range capacities and logistics.
Rutte will call later Monday for a major increase in air defense, according to the notes shared with the press.
NATO allies need “an increase of 400% in air and anti-missile defense … Our soldiers also need thousands of armored vehicles and tanks, millions of additional artillery shells, and we must double our empowering capacities, such as logistics, supply, transport and medical support,” he said.
