NATO, “an organization intended for aggression” according to the Kremlin spokesman – RT in French

During an intervention on a Belarusian television channel on April 2, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed the “aggressive” nature of NATO and the strengthening of military cooperation between Russia and Belarus.

The North Atlantic Alliance was originally designed for aggression, despite current claims about its defensive nature, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a TV interview with Belarusian channel-24 on 2 April.

“They say NATO is a defensive organization. But, you know, the Kalashnikov assault rifle is still an assault rifle no matter what you do with it. The same goes for NATO. It was designed and created — and its architecture is adapted to this — to be aggressive. It is an organization intended for aggression, ”said the Kremlin spokesman quoted by the TASS agency.

According to Dmitry Peskov, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu recently reported to President Vladimir Putin that NATO had reinforced its forces on the eastern flank near Russia’s western borders. The Russian President therefore asked the Ministry of Defense to draw up a plan for strengthening and consolidating Russia’s military power on its western borders, Dmitry Peskov said.

“It will certainly be done in such a way that we can be safe and that the necessary parity in everything is maintained, and in such a way that it does not occur to anyone. […] to attack us,” he said.

Asked whether the Russian offensive in Ukraine was sufficient to safeguard the borders of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, the Kremlin spokesman stressed that the two countries “are engaged in a common military reinforcement”. Dmitry Peskov recalled the recent joint military exercises in this respect: “Of course, this allows us to refine the interaction between our armies, which increases efficiency,” he declared.
