Nathan Wade has $500k in the bank to pay alimony: Wife

Donald Trump’s former attorney Nathan Wade has nearly $500,000 in the bank, despite claiming he can’t pay his spousal support since losing his job, according to reports. new court documents.

In a motion filed in Wade’s divorce case, his ex-wife Joycelyn Wade claims that “amounts… totaling at least $495,000” were deposited into Wade’s trust account in 2022 and 2023.

In documents obtained by The Post, Joycelyn Wade claims the funds “were not fully transferred to her operating accounts, suggesting accumulation rather than reliance on these funds.”

Wade – forced to resign as special prosecutor in the Georgia case following the revelation of his affair with District Attorney Fani Willis – had previously claimed that losing his post as prosecutor meant he no longer had a income and that he could no longer pay the amount agreed to in January to Joycelyn. , a deal he only made after his relationship with Willis was revealed.

“With income from (Wade’s) employment as a special prosecutor no longer arriving and income from (his) private practice being diminished, (he) is no longer able to… fulfill the financial obligations set forth in the temporary order,” Wade’s divorce attorney, M. Scott Kimbrough, wrote in papers filed last week.

But Joycelyn’s legal team doesn’t buy it.

“Plaintiff reported receiving substantial income from private practice in 2022 and 2023,” her lawyers wrote. “Additionally, Plaintiff testified that he received cash payments from clients in private practice… Plaintiff has more than sufficient means to fulfill his obligations. »

Joycelyn’s lawyers also pointed out that, by his own legal admission, Wade claimed his income came 60% from his work on the Trump case and 40% from his private law practice. They asked the court to deny his motion to modify alimony and impose legal fees on him.

Wade earned $250 an hour for pursuing cases against Trump and more than a dozen co-defendants. He was hired by Willis in his official role at the Fulton County Prosecutor’s Office in 2021.

Although they denied being lovers at the time, witnesses have previously stated that their romance had already begun.

During the investigation into Wade’s affair with Willis, it was revealed that he had earned more than $700,000 working for the prosecutor. While working on the case, he spent thousands of dollars on lavish trips for himself and Willis to the Caribbean and Central America.

Wade and Willis became national news in January when Trump’s co-defendant, Mike Roman, revealed their romantic relationship in court documents. Roman asked Willis to be removed from the case because of the alleged wrongdoing.

Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee ruled that even the appearance of misconduct on the part of Wade and Willis was enough to require the resignation of one of them. Wade resigned as special prosecutor the same day as McAfee’s decision, while Willis remains in his position.

After the ruling, Joycelyn subpoenaed Willis in the divorce case, hoping to prove her ex-husband’s lavish spending while claiming indigence.

Wade and his wife reached a temporary agreement a few weeks later, before Willis was scheduled to testify.

Although Willis remains on the case, lawyers for Trump and his co-defendants have made repeated calls for her to be removed from the case.
