Lionsgate The president of the cinema photo group, Nathan Kahane, plans to resign by the end of the year, say sources The Hollywood Reporter.
This decision releases Erin Westerman, currently president of production and development, to resume all the production of studio under the president of Studio Adam Fogelson.
Lionsgate had no comments.
Kahane’s contract would expire at the end of the year, and he will then go to production, jumping on a number of Lionsgate film projects as such.
Kahane has been president of the film group since May 2018, when Lionsgate acquired Good Universe, the production company he founded with Joe Drake. Drake left Lionsgate at the beginning of 2024 to open the way to Fogelson, in some respects, prefiguring the possible exit from Kahane. Drake and Kahane have been a crime partners for years, having not only directed a good universe but to force photos. (Lionsgate acquired the mandate in 2007.)
Kahane has always been more producer than a framework. With mandate, he did the beloved JunoHit comedy Harold & Kumar goes to the White Castleand move horror 30 days at night. The mixture of comedy and horror continued when he and Drake founded Good Universe, making films such as Seth Rogen Hit Neighbors And Fede Alvarez Do not breathe.
Westerman, a former Good Universe and Disney Executive, joined Lionsgate in October 2018 as an executive vice-president, supervising the creative film production team from the studio, before getting into the ranks.
Lionsgate in recent years has sought to do more John Wick Action films and revived and recapitalized Hunger games franchise. The next film for the company is the spin-off of Wick BallerinaBefore going out next week.
