Nathan Fielder Watch Paramount + Like Nazis, Anti -Semitic

In an episode of 2015 of the reality series of reality “Nathan for You”, Nathan Fielder begins a line of outdoor clothing called Summit Ice. He had come to his attention that the Canadian label behind his favorite winter jacket, Taiga, had published a tribute to the denial of the Holocaust Doug Collins. Fielder, who is Jewish, has launched a competing brand, giving all the profits to the Holocaust education.

Hoping to sell ice cream jackets at the top in stores, Fielder recruits a rabbi to help design a striking retail display that presents the brand’s mission. As it is the nature of “Nathan for You” – which was broadcast on Comedy Central of 2013-2017 – their pitch is ridiculous, presenting their clothes behind a replica of the Auschwitz door, Swastika cross pennants and a false skeleton in an oven.

As expected, the store owner rejects the field and says to Fielder: “Find something else to do with your life, because you are not good in this area.” In any case, Summit Ice took off and has become an inner joke among Fielder fans, generating $ 300,000 in sales in the first eight weeks of the company, with profits given to Vancouver Holocaust Education Center. Ten years later, Fielder has probably collected millions of dollars to awareness of the holocaust.

In a new episode of “The Repearsal”, his series of HBO comedy which also blurs the border between fiction and reality, Fielder calls Summit Ice its “most proud realization”, and uses it as an example of something “idiot” which “can really have an impact in the world”.

Apparently, not everyone supports Fielder’s approach.

In the episode of Sunday of “The Repearsal” (Spoilers Ahead), the actor reveals that at the end of 2023, he discovered that the episode of “Nathan for You” featured the history of the Summit Ice had been rubbed with Paramount +, where the flow of shows of the Central Comedy. (“Nathan for You” also broadcasts on Max, alongside “repetition”.)

Variety confirmed that the episode “Nathan for You” in question is not in difficulty on Paramount + after what a source describes as a “review of standards”. The episode is available to broadcast on Max.

Fielder says he sent his contacts by e-mail to Paramount + to ask him why the episode was deleted, and they confirmed that it was an intentional decision due to “sensitivities”. Presenting a recreation of his correspondence by e-mail with Paramount +, Fielder said that the streamer continued to clarify: “A decision was made by Paramount + Germany to remove the episode in their region after they are uncomfortable with what they called everything related to anti-Semitism in the aftermath of the attacks of Israel / Hamas.”

Fielder continues by saying that the decision of Paramount + Germany “sparked the attention of the other European paramount branches and that they also pulled the episode. For a long time, the ideology of Paramount + Germany had spread to the whole globe, eliminating all the Jewish content which made them uncomfortable.” (He tells this while showing a map of the training effect, compare the paramount + brand to the spread of Nazism.)

To add the insult to the injury, Fielder accuses the streamer of “erasing” the Jewish people, showing that there are 50 research results on the platform for “Nazi” 10 for “Hitler” and zero for “Judaism”. Test this experience, Variety Likewise, he found 50 results for “Nazi” and 10 for “Hitler”. Many results are documentaries of the Second World War, but many random titles also appear, notably March Madness Games and the film A24 “Minari”. There is a result for “Judaism”, a series of short films in 2022 of Showtime entitled “Spotlights”. A search for “Christianity” draws two documentaries, and “Islam” generates 50 results, including “Love Island”, “Fire Island” and “Monkey Island” – probably to take into account strikes. (It is sure to say that the Paramount + search engine is wobbly.)

Because the thesis of “rehearsal” is that people can prepare the challenges of life by “repeating” them in developed hyperrealist simulations, the field player builds a replica of paramount + Germany offices and hires an actor to play a streaming frame. Fielder estimated that he was too proven in his initial correspondence with Paramount + because the streamer also wore his Showtime series “The Curse”, which has not yet been renewed for another season. So he wanted another chance of confrontation.

“I did not know what the offices of Paramount + Germany looked like, so I had to make a supposition,” said Fielder in the episode, a hilarious commentary by someone whose research goes to extreme lengths for the most tiny aspects of his television series.

Nevertheless, Fielder enters his “replica”, a magnificent building with paramount + massive banners suspended from the ceiling. (Do you look familiar?) To understand why the episode of Summit Ice has been deleted, he sits with the thick accentuated “frame”, which explains, in the dialogue written by Fielder: “In Germany today, we have no tolerance for any images that can arouse hatred or encourage violence against any group of people.”

Hbo

Fielder then tells the actor to improvise – although it is very unlikely that this part was not also scripted – and that the “Paramount + Executive” presents itself in Fielder to let its preconceived ideas arouse a “non -sincere” approach to conflict resolution. “You have designed this office to look like a warship, dressed me to look like a Nazi,” he said. “Pretend to want comments, but you don’t really want to get the Paramount +perspective, or the German perspective.”

Hbo

When the actor calls a “man with a resentment using his television program to coat us”, he serves as a refutation integrated into the Fielder’s metaphor. (Sources indicate Variety This Paramount + did not receive a head on this scenario by the show or HBO. Presumably, the episode was erased by the legal service of HBO before the release, as well as the standard procedure with satirical content involving real companies.)

Contacted by VarietyParamount + did not comment. A spokesperson for the company refused to answer other questions, including the representation of Fielder de Paramount + as a Nazi Germany, why the episode did not comply with its standards or if it will never be handed over on the platform.
