Man City’s defender Nathan Ake will probably miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a fractured foot.
AKE, 30, was a crucial member of the previously conquering team of Pep Guardiola in recent years, making 143 appearances for the club since he joined Bournemouth in 2020.
However, the Dutch defender endured a frustrating season, AKE playing only 18 times all competitions in 2024-25 after a campaign disrupted from injuries.
AKE missed about two months of action in September and October due to an injury to the hamstrings, when he was also absent in December – before undergoing another muscle problem in January which prevented him for about four weeks.
His latest setback took place during the 3-1 victory of Man City against Plymouth Argyle during the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
AKE has been withdrawn at halftime and the 30-year-old has since undergone a successful operation on a long-standing foot problem before the start of his rehabilitation.

Going on Instagram to break his silence on the issue, AKE has given fans an update on the gravity of his injury.
“It was such a frustrating season for me,” he wrote. “But I now have a successful surgery on a fracture in my foot which has bored me for months and I look positively the future!”

Speaking after the victory over Plymouth – who saw City win 3-1 after coming from 1-0 – Guardiola had given information on the AKE problem.
“No, so tomorrow we will take the test, but yes, he sometimes struggles with the feet, with the bone,” said Spanish.
“And apparently, you know … Yeah, it’s the whole season, it was like that. Unfortunately, central defenders, they cannot be (without constantly injury).
“I hope young people – they don’t have many scars in their lives – can support us and help us until the end.”
After the news of the absence of AKE, the current and old teammates through the club and the country quickly sent their best wishes to it.
