Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal Salaries Revealed: Diaz Set to Earn More Than Masvidal

Nate Diaz is set to make more money than Jorge Masvidal for Saturday’s fight.

This Saturday, Diaz and Masvidal face off in a 10-round light heavyweight boxing bout at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The fight is a rematch of sorts from their 2019 fight at UFC 244 that crowned the inaugural “BMF” champion, a concept coined by Diaz. The Stockton native lost that fight via doctor stoppage in the third round, but the previous result appears to have had no effect on their purses for this fight as Diaz leads all fighters on the upcoming card with a guaranteed purse of $500,000, while Masvidal will only collect $300,000 before pay-per-view sales.

The California State Athletic Commission revealed the salaries in a message to MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin on Saturday.

In fact, Masvidal isn’t even the second-highest base payday for Saturday’s event, as former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, who will face Chris Avila in the evening’s featured bout, is set to make $350,000. Avila, meanwhile, is making $210,000, the fourth-highest purse on the card, even above former world boxing champion Daniel Jacobs, who only made $100,000 for his fight against Shane Mosely Jr. ($160,000). However, Jacobs also didn’t weigh in for his fight and was fined 20 percent of his purse, half of which will go to Mosely Jr.

The full list of salaries for the event can be found below. As always, these numbers do not represent a fighter’s total earnings, as some sponsorship revenue, pay-per-view revenue, and other sources of income are not publicly disclosed.
