Nascar accosted the driver of the Xfinity series Sammy Smith 50 points and inflicted a fine of $ 25,000 on Tuesday after intentionally destroying Taylor Gray in the last round of the Saturday race in Martinsville Speedway, Nascar announced on Tuesday.
Smith also crashed due to the incident, which sparked a multi-caught stack, while the driver of fifth place Austin Hill slipped for the victory.
The race, which has been a case of Derby Derby for Driving Derby, was widely turned within the Nascar community as shameful and embarrassing. This feeling has spread beyond Smith’s incident on arrival. This sparked a discussion in progress between veteran drivers on the lack of respectful and ethical races among the younger runners of the second highest series of NASCAR, some calling on those responsible to intervene and to send a message on what was acceptable.
Smith, which leads to the JR Motorsports team of Dale Earnhardt Jr., received the same penalty point as the CUP series pilot, Austin Cindric, who intentionally destroyed a competitor last month on the circuit of the route on the road to the Americas. Drivers can only earn a maximum of 60 points in a race, so 50 points is an important success.
Gray, who had been exasperated in Smith after losing the chance to win his first career race, also received a fine of $ 5,000 for facing Smith inside the Infield Medical Center. The same fine was also given to another driver, Jeb Burton, for the same reason.
JR Motorsports will not use Smith’s penalty.
