NASCAR Cup results in Nashville, drivers’ points

Joey Logano won Sunday night’s NASCAR Cup race at Nashville Superspeedway, going a series-record five overtimes before the checkered flag flew.

Rookie Zane Smith finished second. Tyler Reddick was third, Ryan Preece fourth and Chris Buescher rounded out the top five.

Christopher Bell won both stages but crashed on stage three and finished 36th, ending his streak of five consecutive top-10 finishes.

Reddick ‘didn’t do his job’ in Nashville

Tyler Reddick expresses frustration with the conclusion of the NASCAR Cup Series race in Nashville and says he “didn’t get the job done” after several favorites ran out of gas at the end.

Logano’s victory moved the finish line of the playoffs. He entered the race holding the final playoff spot. His victory made him the 11th driver to secure a playoff spot with a victory. That leaves five places via points with seven races remaining.

Alex Bowman now occupies the final playoff spot. Bubba Wallace is the first driver outside of a playoff spot. He is 51 points behind Bowman. Chase Briscoe is next. He is 78 points behind Bowman. Kyle Busch is 104 points behind Bowman.
