NASA Pioneer Sandy Johnson Offers Luxurious $5.65 Million Kauai Townhouse

Sandy Johnson, pioneering CEO of Barrios Technology and a pioneer for women in the aviation and space industry since the days of “Hidden Numbers,” has listed her stunning $5.65 million townhouse on the Hawaiian island from Kauai.

Johnson, who was one of the first women to work with NASA on the original Space Shuttle program alongside Katherine Johnson (no relation), the inspiration for the film “Hidden Figures,” spent decades to make great strides in space exploration.

She founded the first woman-owned small business supporting NASA and continues to play an instrumental role in all of NASA’s human spaceflight missions, including the Artemis program, aimed at landing the first woman and first person color on the Moon.

Among his other passions: Kauai.

“I developed my love for Kauai because the island provided a perfect balance with my career as the owner and manager of a company providing technical integration services to NASA,” Johnson told the Post.

“From getting excited about supporting all of our nation’s human spaceflight programs to relaxing on a beach with a Mai Tai, life doesn’t get any better than this! »

The open floor plan, featuring wall-to-wall glass doors, allows for a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living.

The spacious lanai, perfect for entertaining or relaxing, features over 1,000 square feet of outdoor space with an outdoor grill and private plunge pool.

Inside, the chef’s kitchen is a culinary dream, with granite and quartzite countertops, custom Sapele cabinets, professional Thermador appliances, a wine and beverage cooler, and a built-in ice maker.

The upstairs master suite features a built-in coffee area, soaking tub, and spacious lanai with ocean views. Two additional bedrooms provide ample space for guests and loved ones.

“We purchased our Laola townhome at Timbers Kauai while it was under construction in 2018 because it offered the perfect combination of an island lifestyle, ocean views, resort amenities and of a team on the property dedicated to making sure all needs were met,” Johnson said.

It’s time to part ways, but Johnson says she’ll always hold on to the memories of the property.

“We love the view of the beautiful sunrise and moonrise from our veranda. During whale season we watched them play in the ocean almost like in our backyard. We have many good memories experiencing all the amenities of the resort with our grandsons, such as catching their first fish in the lagoons,” she added.
