The Apple TV + comedy “Mythic Quest” was canceled after four seasons, Variety has learned exclusively. The series broadcast its fourth season final on March 26 after its beginnings in January. He had been renewed during seasons 3 and 4 in 2021.
But in the real style of video game, the show gets an additional life. A final episode updated with a new end will be presented next week on Apple TV +.
“The purposes are difficult. But after four incredible seasons,” Mythic Quest “is coming to an end,” said executive producers in the Megan Ganz series, David Hornsby and Rob Mcelherney. “We are so proud of the show and the world that we were able to build – and deeply grateful to all the actors and crew members who shed their hearts. “Mythic Quest” was among the first original series to be launched on Apple TV +, its debut in February 2020 after the launch of the service in November 2019. Although Apple does not publish information on audiences for their programs, the series has been well received by critics since its launch. The Four Seasons have an average of 97% critical approval on Rotten Tomatoes.
The comedy in a camera workforce followed the staff of a video game studio that produced the titular game, a massively popular MMORPG. The co-creator of the MCELHENNEY series also played in the show as II GRIMM, the creator and creative director of “Mythic Quest”. The cast also included Charlotte Nicdao, Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis and Naomi Ekperigin.
Mcelhenney created the show with Charlie Day and Ganz, with the three executive producers. MCELHENNEY and Day did it under their RCG banner. Additional executive producers included Hornsby, Michael Rotenberg and Nicholas Frenkel in the name of 3 arts and Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill and GĂ©rard Guillemot for Ubisoft Film & Television. In addition to its race for four season, “Mythic Quest” also produced two special episodes – a distance from the characters in the show dealing with the quarantine and another called “Everlight”, who saw the characters celebrate their return to the office.
The show also generated the spin-off series “Side Quest”, which made its debut on March 26. This show was an anthology of four episodes, each episode exploring the life of different people involved in the game “Mythic Quest”, from its creators to fans.
