My husband and I need advice / help

Introduction

I was an accountant in my previous life (before 6 years of meteorology studies, then a 20 -year career), so you might think that I would have planned this. I had a decent salary for a large part of my meteorology career, and I had a good retirement plan, including an employer match up to 10% of my salary. However, my depression (and perhaps certain neurological / cerebral problems) took over me, and I had to retire 2 and a half years before wanting, just before the Pandemic COVVI-19 started in March 2020. So we had this to cope with a loss of $ 35,000 (K)). My husband intensified and got an excellent job to make a difference, even starting dialysis at the same time. It brings us now.

I have been a gay man who has been with the same guy (ken) for over 25 years. We made the knot as soon as the Maryland voters approved homosexual marriage in 2013. Now, it’s 2025, and a different period. But politics is only a small part of what concerns us at the moment, and our concerns go even beyond my husband’s disease (Ken) -Stage-Kidney (ESKD). Three months ago, he developed a hearing problem as a side effect of the use of necessary and extended antibiotics. We seem to have the hearing loss under control now, fortunately.

However, he suddenly loses his sight. It started with his right eye a few weeks ago, and now his left eye is Also giving it similar problems. Unlike the hearing, there is no cause known for this loss of sight. Another thing … It is almost impossible to get out of date with specialists today, even with something that I would consider as an emergency! So far, he has persevered full time with a good salary, but he just can’t face all the physical problems he knows now. He will probably have to go out on SSDI who, next to being very difficult To ask, is a bread. We will lose about $ 65,000 in income and we still have a mortgage. He has money stored for retirement, but that was not going to be hit for about 7 years more!

What are we looking for? ADVICE!

Our main concerns are:

  • How to navigate SSDI’s demand, especially with the current diet?
  • These places that take your house “as is”, legitimate? I hope that we will not have to take this path, but I am not yet close to being sure.

It looks like a million questions I have, and I am at the end of my mind regarding the support of him and us. The only thing I know is that I have to take care of myself to be able to take care of him. It is not an easy task with my default depression parameter: – /.

This is all for the moment and, as you can imagine, the current state of the United States does not help at all.
