My dermatologist says Alastin HydraTint sunscreen is her foundation

Whenever I visit my longtime dermatologist, I always ask for product recommendations. Nazanin Saedi, MD, a board-certified dermatologist at Dermatology Associates of Plymouth Meeting, doesn’t have a medical degree with a specialty in skin, but she has amassed quite a following on social media. She regularly shares her top product picks, from drugstore steals to the splurge-worthy medical-grade serums and solutions she sells out of her Philadelphia office. Her skin is also flawless, despite the fact that she doesn’t appear to be wearing much makeup.

During a recent visit, I asked Dr. Saedi about her summer beauty must-haves. His first choice? Alastin HydraTint Pro Sunscreen SPF 36, a sunscreen that not only protects your skin but provides just enough coverage.

Alastin

“The Alastin HydraTint is a great multitasker,” she says of the skin tint Martha Steward uses. “It’s an incredible sunscreen with anti-aging benefits.” First, “it contains zinc oxide as a physical blocker,” providing SPF 36 protection against the sun. It also contains phytoene and phytofluene, “great antioxidants,” she adds.

She and Stewart, 82, agree that Alastin sunscreen provides just enough tint to camouflage imperfections. “I personally love the coverage of the shade,” she says, promising that it “blends with so many” skin types. “It’s also my foundation,” she says.

In February, during the second season premiere of “The Martha Stewart Podcast,” the lifestyle guru talked all things skincare with her cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Dan Belkin. Stewart revealed she applies Alastin Hydratint to her skin “every morning” to maintain its glow after the doctor puts it on. In fact, she “loves it so much” that she won’t “leave the house with it,” Stewart said. “It really works and it looks like you have makeup on.”

While shoppers of all ages love the skin tint, those with mature skin especially appreciate it. “I’m a 55-year-old woman with light wrinkles and foundation seems to just accentuate them, but this product gives me just enough coverage without highlighting the wrinkles,” one reviewer wrote. Another added that it “evens out” skin tone while “concealing” wrinkles. Others add that it’s “not at all chalky” and “barely detectable,” leaving skin “dewy and radiant.”

My advice? Add Alastin HydraTint Pro SPF 36 Sunscreen to your cart ASAP. And if you’re considering stocking up on other dermis-approved Alastin products, check out Dr. Saedi’s other recommendations below.

Alastin Skin Repair Complex with TriHex Technology

“It’s a splurge, but it’s worth it,” says Dr. Saedi. It includes Alastin’s proprietary TriHex technology, a group of peptides that “help support and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin,” she says. “It also contains niacinamide to help hydrate and protect the skin.”

Alastin A-LUMINATE Brightening Serum

Dr. Saedi promises that this retinol-free brightening serum “is a great addition to the routine of anyone trying to combat unwanted discoloration, including dark spots, age spots, and hyperpigmentation.” The brand’s proprietary technology “can minimize the recurrence of surface pigmentation and prevent sun damage,” she adds. It also contains tranexamic acid, “which is becoming increasingly popular for treating facial hyperpigmentation.”
