- For years, I have surpassed to avoid repeating on vacation outfits.
- Now, I have mastered the art of packaging, and my biggest advice is to stick to a color.
- It allows more outfit combinations. In addition, it leaves room in your bag for fun documents.
There are three summers, I sat on my discharge suitcase in the middle of Auckland airport in New Zealand and I tried to close my luggage by hand.
Foreigners avoided the visual contact when they spotted me: a helpless on-paker. Sweat was shining on my forehead as I forced the zipper. I was already wearing a tank top, a sweater and a jacket. Next to me was a tote bag with more clothes and memories. Nearby, my backpack was full to the brim.

I prayed that no one questions my three hand luggage instead of the two allocated. I also swore not to no longer exaggerate.
Now, after a handful of international trips of two weeks, I am convinced that I have mastered the skills of the packaging. My biggest advice: respect a color.
A color means more outfit options and more space
After living in New York for three years, I fell into the shot to wear all black. At the start, I thought it was a New York uniform and, therefore, a requirement to be fashionable in the city. Later, I realized that it makes life very much easier.
My abundance of black clothes means that I can mix and match textures and shapes without doubting if the color combination will work together.
For years, I have not followed this rule during the packaging for trips. An international trip, for me, is a great celebration.
To mark the occasion (and the photos that would accompany him), I thrilled the goal of never repeating an outfit. I would give up the fashion lessons that I learned from New York and I wrapped fun colors and intact pieces at the back of my closet.
Then, I would finish in a trip without loving anything that I wrapped and repeat the outfits over and over.
Finally, I realized that if wearing mainly black facilitates my daily life, it would probably facilitate my vacation life.
By focusing on a single color, most of the outfits in my suitcase go together. This allows me to mix and match the parts to create new shapes and new crises without repeating an entire outfit.
In addition, it saves me in my bag. If more of my items go together, I can pack less while having options.

A color does not mean that you cannot pack a declaration element or two
I learned that this tip of space saving also means that I have room for a declaration article or two that I am convinced that I will wear.
When I embarked on a two -week trip to Japan, my suitcase was filled with dark clothes, which gave me the confidence necessary to pack my polka dot coat.
I knew that my entirely black outfits corresponded to the coat, so my declaration piece could be worn several times. If I had wrapped other patterns or more colorful clothes, I would probably have wore the coat once or twice and I would have needed room for more coats in my suitcase.
For a two -week trip through Italy and Cyprus, I followed a similar rule and mainly glued to black clothes.
Here, my declaration documents were accessories and shoes. I wore colored earrings, based platform sandals, loyal wrapped buttonholes and I found touches of colors in scarves and jewelry that I bought during the trip.

When I look at photos, I don’t think – or I care if – it looks like I wear the same thing
A fear that I had when I started to wear mainly in black during travel, it might seem that I was carrying the same thing in each photo.
I fight it by exciting different types of clothes. I could wrap a black midday dress that can be worn in the form of a dress, such as a skirt or with long sleeves below. Beyond a dress, I will wrap black jeans and black fluid pants. Regarding the shirts, I will make sure I have tight tights and ups and cowards.
By having a variety of styles, I think my outfits vary enough.
More importantly, I learned that it does not matter if I seem similar in pictures.
I care more about the places I have visited and memories that I created – no matter what I was wearing.
