‘My balls got too heavy’ – Ryan Garcia bizarrely celebrates missing weight for Devin Haney fight and Gervonta Davis reacts

Ryan Garcia took to social media with strange messages after missing weight for the Devin Haney fight on Friday.

Rival stars of American boxing were due to face off for Haney’s WBC welterweight world title, live on talkSPORT on Saturday night, but the belt will now no longer be on the line for the challenger to win.

Haney successfully made the super lightweight limit of 140 pounds during the commission’s official weigh-in, which took place behind closed doors on Friday.

Garcia, however, was 3.2 pounds over the limit of 143.2 pounds.

Usually, when a fighter is slightly overweight, the commission grants him additional time to meet the agreed-upon limit.

However, the New York Commission denied Garcia on this occasion due to his weight being over 140 pounds.

This briefly plunged the fight into late chaos, with both sides having to negotiate a deal to allow it to proceed as a non-title fight, which they have now managed to do.

Haney revealed that Garcia honored his bet during the press conference and paid him $500,000 per overweight pound, a total of $1.5 million.

Garcia took to social media after the debacle.

“Actually 1.5 million,” he tweeted alongside two crying emojis, “I don’t know. Three pounds is nothing, stop crying.”

Garcia then continued: “I feel good and I had a three pound advantage, let’s go hahahahaa. Winners do what they have to do, I’m still sharp.”

He later added: “F*** ALL THIS, VIVA MEXICO, WE’RE LEAVING WITH HIS HEAD. THE BELTS WILL STILL BE THERE.”

And he said, “Why should I force myself to gain weight to be weak? No, I’m here to win. That’s all.”

Garcia concluded, “My balls got too heavy, and my back gained too much muscle from wearing the promo, and my fingers got stronger from all the tweets.”

Gervonta Davis, who knocked out Garcia last year, also gave his thoughts on people’s reactions to the situation.

Davis tweeted: “When I fought him we made it cool to go against him like crazy. Now everyone is writing him off. Clowns!”
