American Airlines made his debut yesterday his brand new 787-9 with a pair of interior flights between Chicago and Los Angeles. I had the chance to visit the new flagship planes of the AA and I am delighted to share some photos and first impressions with you.
I could not attend a media event in Dallas last week which offered a look in advance a last Dreamliner 787-9 of an AA, with new seats in each cabin of the service. This plane entered the sales department yesterday, flying from Chicago to Los Angeles (then return to Chicago and London). During her brief stopover in Lax, American Airlines arranged so that I take a look at the edge.
When I arrived in Lax around 11:30 am, I picked up a door pass (which did not mean a tsa precheck) and I erased security.
The plane arrived around 20 minutes later from Chicago: I watched him land and arrived to the door.
The cleaning and catering teams were waiting to run the plane quickly: boarding had to start in less than 30 minutes.
As soon as the last passenger went down the plane, I was invited to get on board (some of my colleagues were there too, including Johnny Jet and Cranky Flier). I did not have long on board, but I managed to see each cabin.
Business class is divided into cabins. The first row of each cabin (rows 1 and 10) is qualified as “preferred flagship suites” and has an additional place (42% more), a larger table (with a false marble) and 19% more bedroom. Yes, the screens are small, but the suites are very comfortable.
There are a total of 51 headlines configured 1-2-1 distributed in each cabin (43 when you exclude the eight favorite suites). The headquarters are based on the aditant ascent platform and stylish by Teague. Everyone converts to a flat bed or a chair living room and has a sliding intimacy door, although the door has not yet been certified and is locked in the open position.
51 seats is a huge business class cabin and AA has carefully invested in it with accents such as siege seams, wireless load and a lamp at each seat.
Premium Economy includes 32 Recaro R5 reclining seats (configured 2-3-2). Each includes adjustable footrests and foot bars and winged headrests … The seat is fairly comfortable and the seat is sufficient for a diurnal flight.
Economy class includes 143 Collins Aerospace Aspire Seats in a 3-3-3 configuration. The “main additional cabin” seats (those with additional legs) are designated by lighter brown headrests. The seats have universal takeover A / C, USB-A and USB-C, as well as Bluetooth connectivity (all cabins have this).
AA did a good job on the interiors of the cabin of this new plane. The very heavy configuration less than a new era of competitiveness for American Airlines and the quality of the seats also seem of first order (although, of course, on this note, only time will tell us).
I can’t wait to fly soon on this new plane.
