Tech billionaire Elon Musk has called for Brexit leader Nigel Farage to be replaced as leader of Britain’s Reform Party after previously expressing support for the longtime Trump ally. Farage, meanwhile, has pledged not to compromise on his principles.
Just weeks after meeting Mr Farage at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, the world’s richest man has apparently changed his mind and is turning his attention to Britain’s most influential politician since the Second World War, having successfully led the remarkable campaign to see the United Kingdom leave the European Union in 2016.
“The Reform Party needs a new leader. Farage doesn’t have what it takes”, Musk wrote on X.
Prior to this publication, there had been speculation that Musk intended to make a large donation to the Reform Party. However, it now appears that the billionaire may be seeking to exert significant control over the party, including its leadership.
The statement follows a public disagreement over English activist Tommy Robinson, currently in prison after pleading guilty to contempt of court for publicly repeating defamatory statements about a Syrian refugee. Much to Musk’s dismay, Farage said he would not accept the former English Defense League as part of the Reform Party.
Over the past week, Musk has focused on European affairs, promoting the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party ahead of February’s election and highlighting the child rape gang scandal Muslims in England and the failures of political correctness. politicians, police and local officials to protect young girls.
This came shortly after the tech billionaire came under scrutiny from the MAGA base in the United States for his advocacy of migration through the H1-B visa program.
Musk’s electric car company, Tesla, reportedly took advantage of the visa program to fill positions vacated after the company laid off around 15,000 American workers in April last year.
Responding to criticism of his advocacy for importing foreign tech workers from America First accounts on his social media platform, Musk responded: “Take a big step back and FUCK YOURSELF in the face. I will wage war on such a matter as you cannot understand. »
Conversely, under Nigel Farage, the Reform Party has consistently advocated a drastic reduction in immigration, calling before the previous election in July for a “freeze” on all non-essential immigration to Britain.
Since returning to the forefront of British politics following his Brexit withdrawal, Mr Farage has led the Reform Party to win more than four million votes in the general election, securing the party’s first class of elected MPs. Since then, the party has continued to rise in the polls, with the ruling Labor Party experiencing a “hemorrhaging” of support for Reform.
Responding to Musk’s call for his ouster on Sunday, Mr Farage said: “Well, it’s a surprise! Elon is a remarkable person, but on this point I’m afraid I disagree. My view remains that Tommy Robinson is not right for the Reform Party and I have never wavered from my principles.”
In a show of support, Farage’s comments were reposted by the deputy leader of the UK Reform Party, Richard Tice, as well as the party’s chairman, Zia Yusuf.
