Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence (AI) startup xAI launched a standalone consumer app called Grok which provides access to company information chatbot of the same name.
Grok Beta for iOS offers free access to the latest xAI model, Grok 2, according to its description in the App store.
“Grok is an AI-powered assistant, developed by xAI, designed to be as truthful and useful as possible. And curious,” the description says. “Get answers to all your questions, generate stunning images, and upload images to better understand your world.”
The main features of the application include image generation; real-time insights powered by its access to current data from the web and Musk’s social media platform, X; an “engaging and humorous” conversational tone; and a focus on privacy, according to the description.
The chatbot was previously only available through X, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported Thursday (January 9). The new app is available for free and does not appear to offer a subscription option, according to the report. Its description in the Apple App Store suggested that the product was in beta and released in the United States.
