An aquarium worker who sells online anti-elon musk stickers like a side jostling said that business exploded since Tesla CEO made his controversial greetings during a Trump rally in January.
Matthew Hiller told Business Insider that he was sold between 400 and 500 stickers a day in recent weeks – against a handful in the past. Business Insider has viewed the sales data of its Amazon store.
Some customers have told Hiller that stickers replace the sale of their teslas. “They are either in a place where they cannot sell it financially and they are stuck with it, or they cannot sell it because the value has dropped and they do not get what they want for that,” he said.
Hiller said that some sticker buyers considered Musk’s grip of right -wing Musk as a “huge stop”, adding: “The response to stickers since he has combined Trump.”
Referring to comments left on his Etsy store, he said: “I can see people who say:” Thank you for doing this, I can drive my car again and it’s less embarrassing “or” I keep it on my car until I can sell it “.”

Hiller said that a comment even inspired the creation of a new sticker: “Elon killed my resale value.”
A customer with a Tesla Powerwall battery also said they had bought a sticker to put their homes, he said.
The stickers, which cost between $ 6.28 and $ 12.54, became popular outside the United States, Hiller going from client orders in France, Norway, Japan, Canada, Estonia, Malaysia and Ireland.
The movement against Tesla has gained ground in recent weeks, with demonstrations outside the dozens of Tesla exhibition halls across the United States.
The Tesla action has dropped approximately a third this year, while sales have slipped to Europe. The drop has also struck the net value of Musk, although the richest person in the world remains.
Hiller, who works in the Waikiki Aquarium gift shop in Honolulu, already sold fish stickers in Etsy and Amazon stores called madpuffersickers, with a bouffant fish as a logo.
After Musk bought X in October 2022, Hiller estimated that some owners of Tesla would not want to be associated with Musk. In January 2023, he started selling a sticker that read “I bought this before we know that Elon was crazy.”
Hiller said that he only sells one or two fish stickers a day now.
