“She collapsed twice”

What happened in the night from Friday to Saturday? The various testimonies collected by the Telegram retrace the evening of Iris C., 23, who was found dead in Lanester (56) on Saturday May 27, in the morning. Witnesses report having seen her disappear, carried by a man, around 3:30 am, in a street in downtown Lorient.

“Iris arrived Friday in the middle of the evening in the establishment, testifies a bartender from Lorient. I was off that evening but my colleagues told me. She stayed until the bar closed and by the end she was alone with three guys. A priori, they were not regular customers. That night, the bars closed at 3 a.m. She would have left, accompanied by these three men, the young woman was then “not in her normal state”.

“She walked to the Mercure hotel with these three guys. She collapsed twice. One of the three men left. The other two stayed. One took her in his arms and carried her like a baby. Afterwards, we did not see her again…”

A heavily alcoholic man

A little less than seven hours later, the body of the young Lorientaise was seen floating on the surface of the Blavet, a coastal river, in the neighboring town of Lanester. The police officers of the Departmental Security of the Lorient police station have since concentrated their efforts on these few hours which preceded the macabre discovery.

For the time being, a man, who would be the last to have been seen in the presence of the victim in the city center of Lorient, around 3:30 am, is heard under the regime of police custody. He is around 30 years old and is “close to the family circle of the victim”, indicates the prosecution. According to information from the Telegram, he was heavily alcoholic on the night of the disappearance of Iris C.

Traces of ties on the wrists

An investigation for intentional homicide had been opened on Saturday by the Lorient prosecutor’s office. The circumstances of the discovery of the body left little other choice. Around 10 a.m. Saturday, the body of the young woman drifted near the small port of Saint-Guénaël, in Lanester. The young woman was naked, only wearing her socks. His body bore numerous marks of shock, but especially marks of strangulation.

Still according to our information, his wrists also showed traces of links. A Samu team tried in vain to resuscitate the young woman.

On this bucolic site, very popular with walkers and boaters, residents were in shock on Sunday morning. “It’s still a feminicide, isn’t it? With drawn features, arms crossed, this sixty-year-old, who lives in the peaceful hamlet overlooking the port, says she has “not slept all night”. That night his doorbell rang. “A quick knock. It was around 12:45 a.m. I got up, but I didn’t open. My alarm was on. The neighborhood dogs were barking. When I looked, there was no one on the street. Since then, she can’t help but think that the victim “may have tried to seek help”.

Body thrown upstream?

Other residents evoke the presence of young people, the night in question, who were partying below. We now know: it was not that evening that would have degenerated. This is confirmed by a neighbor, who points to the fact that the tide was ebbing that night. “The body was discovered at 10:15 a.m. This means that it probably fell in the water not here, but upstream, going up towards Hennebont. »

Spontaneously, several people point to a site, near the Bonhomme bridge. “It’s a place where young people like to come and party. It’s also a place for one-night stands, with prostitution too. I’m not going to walk there anymore, ”breathed a resident. On the site in question, very popular with walkers who come to picnic there, on sunny days, facing a cemetery of boats, nothing comes to betray the passage of police investigators. No walker noted their presence this Sunday morning.

Bar owners alerted, sister worried

In Lorient, in the 14-storey building where Iris C., who was from Guidel, lived, no one answered on this sunny Sunday. The disappearance of Iris made the rounds of part of the city, as of Saturday.

At least with bar owners, alerted by relatives of the young woman. “I was shown a photo on Saturday evening, but it was not of good quality. I didn’t recognize her. On Saturday, Iris’ sister, worried about not having heard from her, had come to report her disappearance to the central police station in Lorient. The description given by the young woman unfortunately agreed with that of the victim found in the waters of Blavet, in Lanester.

“Always the same group of friends”

“She often came to our house, always with the same group of friends in the same age group. We knew her well…”, whispers a bartender from Lorient, his eyes shining and visibly disoriented. “I don’t understand what’s going on. »

The young woman had obtained, in 2022, a BTS Computer services for organizations, in a Nantes high school, and had obtained her bac pro management-administration at the Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix high school, in Ploemeur (56). She had worked in restoration on the occasion of the Interceltic Festival of Lorient, in August 2022. Her LinkedIn page mentions her interest in “piano, cybersecurity and web development”. She would have been 24 in June.
