Multiple violent home invasions leave 3 hospitalized in suburban Los Angeles

A series of violent home invasions in an eastern suburb of Los Angeles resulted in the hospitalization of three people after being assaulted, according to the El Monte Police Department.

The attacks took place in El Monte, Calif. — in the San Gabriel Valley — around 1:20 a.m., KTLA reported.

One of the victims told the outlet that the group of suspects who raided their home, located in the 2700 block of Potrero Avenue, appeared to be aiming for “something specific.”

“They tied up my whole family and I just fell over. They pointed a gun in my face and pulled me into the room where the rest of my family was and tied me up,” the victim said.

“You could tell they weren’t going to hurt us. They were looking for something specific, not to hurt anyone,” he added.

The victim then said the suspects broke into the nearby home of an elderly person, where a gunshot could be heard.

No one was shot and injured, but three people were hospitalized following the attack, including one who is in serious condition after suffering blunt force trauma, authorities said via KABC.

One suspect was arrested moments after the home invasion, while another was arrested hours later in the area. The suspects in custody have been identified as a 17-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing police.

The police are still looking for one or two other suspects, still at large.

Authorities say a total of three homes were targeted. No property was stolen from two of the residences and it is not known if property was stolen from the third house.
