MSNBC segment singles out conservative judge for leaking Dobbs decision
MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” host Joy Reid and The Nation correspondent Elie Mystal have theorized that Judge Samuel Alito disclosed the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade in May.
Reid reported an accusation that Alito leaked the 2014 Supreme Court decision regarding Hobby Lobby to right-wing activists. Both Alito and the woman he allegedly spoke to have denied the allegations, though Democratic congressmen have offered to launch a lawsuit investigation in response.
Although the report has not been verified, Reid and Mystal have hinted that it more than confirms that Alito was behind Dobbs’ infamous leak.
“On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being, ‘no, he didn’t,’ and 10 being, ‘oh, yeah, he did’, how likely is Alito to be the one who disclosed the Dobbs decision?” Reid asked.

“Does this microphone go to 11, Joy?” Mystal joked.
He added: “The Supreme Court has been an ethical disaster since John Roberts took office in 2005. The Supreme Court is the only court in the land that operates without ethics rules. And these Supreme Court justices have been going wild ever since. that Roberts took over, more, the conservative side, because if you’re part of the Federalist Society industrial complex, it’s very easy to get access to those judges.”
Reid further claimed that the leak was done primarily as a way to prepare “the right-wing infrastructure” for the aftermath.
“You might add one more thing, because they’re also lying. First of all, the other piece is that it’s clear the leaks are designed to allow the right-wing infrastructure to do the PR before they don’t take those rights away from them and send us back to the 19th century. They want to give them a PR opportunity to get ahead so they can get their message across. It seems to me they did the same thing when they’ve been confirmed,” Reid said.

Earlier in the segment, Reid also mocked Alito’s statement denying the allegations.
“It’s unclear whether he released the statement twirling an ominous mustache, but we do know that being the hand that extinguished Roe v. Wade emboldened Alito who, as he happily and condescendingly penned down his decision Dobbs, who overturned half a century of precedent, called Roe extremely wrong and a weak argument,” Reid said.
Her comments echoed her suggestion in August that Alito said “the state” owned women’s bodies based on her decision.

“And what Alito said is that your state owns your body. As soon as you get pregnant, your state owns your body and your state can tell you what to do with it. Sorry, bad luck. You don’t own yourself. not,” Reid said. .
