Mount Eruption Live Updates: the highest active volcano bursts in Italy Sending on tourists

Bill McGuire, a professor emeritus of geophysical and climatic dangers at UCL, said that the eruption of today at Mount Etna was “nothing unusual” for the popular volcano.

“Although it may seem terrifying to tourists visiting the volcano, this activity is nothing unusual for Mount Etna, which is almost continuously active and has this kind of eruption each year or two,” he told The Independent.

Professor McGuire said that ash and volcanic gas spitting crater can cause respiratory problems, but probably only near the summit.
