Authorities have publicly identified a 35-year-old man who died last weekend in a motorcycle crash involving a suspected drunk driver in the Ridgeview/Webster neighborhood.
Derek Grover II of San Diego was driving his Harley-Davidson southbound on Euclid Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a northbound GMC Sierra turned left directly into his path at Lyon Street, just north of State Route 94. according to police and the county medical examiner’s office.
Grover was thrown from the bike following the collision.
Paramedics took him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, where he was pronounced dead.
The 58-year-old driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
