Three children and their mother were released from the federal guard after being detained by immigration application agents last month on a New York dairy farm in the northern state, officials announced on Monday.
The case sent shock waves through Tiny Sacket Harbor, NY, a village of around 1,400 people on Lake Ontario where the children were registered and believed in the city school.
Family detention was another decision in the midst of the Trump administration’s immigration to discuss the demonstrations. According to North Country Public Radio, around 1,000 people gathered on behalf of the family.
The liberation of women and her children – a third year student and two high school students – was announced by Governor Kathy Hochul, Democrat, and the member of the local state, Scott Gray, a republican.
“We are open to working with the federal immigration application to suppress gang members or violent criminals,” Hochul said in a statement. “But I will never support cruel actions that snatch children or tear families.”
Gray said in a separate declaration that “we are all deeply grateful” that the family was returned to New York.
