Mostly sunny skies, warmer temperatures after chilly morning – NBC Chicago

After Chicago-area residents were greeted with the coldest day in recent weeks to start their weekend, a much more seasonal Sunday lies ahead before returning to work and school.

After a cool morning marked by frost warnings and frost advisories in parts of the region, temperatures are expected to rise steadily throughout the day, accompanied by plenty of sunshine.

Temperatures approaching 60 degrees are likely in the area, with west-northwest winds 10 to 15 miles per hour throughout the day.

Temperatures are expected to drop back to the low 40s overnight, with clear skies and lighter winds through Monday morning.

From there, slightly warmer temperatures are expected to begin the week, with highs approaching the upper 60s as some cloud cover returns to the area.

Warmer conditions persist on Tuesday, although they are accompanied by possible afternoon showers that will be followed by a midweek cool-down, with high temperatures likely hovering around 50 degrees on Wednesday.

From here, the end of next week will be relatively cooler, with a risk of thunderstorms next weekend.
