Mostly sunny skies and windy conditions to kick off a pleasant weekend – NBC Chicago

While Chicago-area residents were among the many Americans to view the Northern Lights during a historic geomagnetic storm, those waking up to start their weekend are greeted with pleasant, seasonal weather.

Temperatures will be in the mid-50s by mid-morning Saturday, and the mercury is expected to reach the upper 60s by late afternoon.

Although cloudy skies and overnight rain have at least partially affected visibility of the Northern Lights overnight, clear and dry conditions from Saturday morning are expected to persist into the weekend.

While temperatures are expected to be mostly mild on Saturday, summer heat is in store for Sunday, with equally sunny skies and high temperatures expected in the 80s.

However, the perfect weather outside is expected to quickly end, with rain likely to return to the area by Monday evening.

Temperatures will then be a little cooler on Tuesday, with highs only reaching the 60s and continued precipitation.

Things will start to warm up again with a dry and clear Wednesday, although rain later in the week cannot be ruled out.

As for next weekend, summer temperatures are currently forecast in the 70s, with just a slight chance of precipitation.
