A source told Billboard that the Wallen bar’s postponement has nothing to do with the Nashville Metro Council’s decision this week to deny approval of an exterior sign for the bar.

The Nashville Metropolitan Council on Thursday rejected plans to post a 20-foot sign advertising the bar in downtown Nashville due to the singer’s past controversies, including his past use of a racial insult and allegedly threw a chair off a Nashville roof.

The resolution would have allowed the bar’s ownership group to hang a large neon sign outside the venue, similar to other country stars’ bars in Nashville, including those of Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and d ‘others. However, the council voted 30-3 to deny installation of the sign.

“I don’t want to see a billboard with the name of someone throwing chairs off balconies and saying racist slurs,” said Council Member Delishia Porterfield, according to The Tennessean.

District 24 council member Brenda Gadd said Wallen is “someone who continues to get second chances,” according to the outlet.

District 14 Council Member Jordan Huffman added, “Mr. Wallen is a fellow East Tennessean. It gives us all a bad name. His comments are hateful; his actions are harmful. Additionally, Council Member Antoinette Lee said those speaking out could “help people who are committing these harmful actions think twice.”

On April 7, Wallen was charged with three counts by the Metro Nashville Police Department after a chair he allegedly threw from the roof of the six-story Chief Bar landed on Broadway near two officers.

The singer from “Last Night” “fully cooperated” with the investigation, a representative for the musician told Fox News Digital at the time.

Wallen failed to show up for his first court hearing earlier this month.

Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, appeared on Wallen’s behalf after waiving the country music star’s first appearance. He explained that the court date was a “settlement,” where Wallen’s legal team and the DA’s office could have a conversation about the case.

“This is obviously a very complicated case,” Robinson told reporters after the hearing. “This is not going to be resolved without subpoenas and witnesses.”

Robinson explained that they had “reset” the case for August 15 and that Wallen would be present on that date.
