A company of frozen desserts on a popular national scale is the spearhead of a serious recall after nearly two dozen flavors of their ice cream and their frozen yogurt have proved to be contaminated by hard plastics.
According to an application report published by the FDA, Wells Enterprises, which produces dairy products Wells, has published a voluntary reminder of 22 flavors of frozen desserts in their portfolio. The FDA report indicates that the company based at Iowa began its recall on April 25 and was classified in the organization system on Wednesday, May 14.
The FDA report also notes that the type of recall affecting WELLS dairy products is classified as a class II, which suggests “a situation in which the use or exposure to a violating product can cause temporary negative or medically reversible negative consequences or when the probability of serious undesirable consequences is distant”, according to their official website.
In this type of situations, the FDA also describes that “reminders are actions taken by a company to withdraw a product from the market. Reminders can be carried out on an initiative of a company, by request from the FDA or by order of the FDA under the statutory authority.” In the case of the recall of the products from Wells Enterprises, the company voluntarily submitted the recall, according to the application report.
People contacted Wells Enterprises to comment, but they did not immediately respond.

As for specific products, a large band of desserts of internal partners and affiliated partners of Wells has been recalled, the largest sample being 5,280 baths of “iced vanilla yogurt”. The products in question also display an expiration date from March to October 2026.
