More than 100,000 people lose power after deadly storms – WSOC TV

Severe, deadly storms caused damage across the region Wednesday afternoon.

High winds of up to 70 mph toppled trees and power lines, causing more than 100,000 Duke Energy customers to lose power.

As of 4 a.m. Thursday, there were still more than 60,000 outages in our region.

Duke Energy does not yet have an estimated restoration time. The website only states that repairs and damage assessments are underway.
